Description Book cover for Trudi Canavans newest novel, The Rogue.

I'm rather happy with how this one turned out, i used the salt in a different way to try and create texture and layers.

Done in watercolour

The Rogue belongs to Trudi Canavan.

That's so beautiful! And I love the salt effect. I've tried to get that with salt, but I can't do it. Do you use table salt, or kosher salt, or something else added in as well?

I use table salt, but i use the kind that you grind yourself. It makes the salt different sizes creating variation in the effect. If its not working, either your paint is too dry, or its too wet. What i did for this was paint it normally, and then when it was dry, wet the paper again with a thin layer of water and put the salt on. The effect isn't as strong this way but it works. You didn't really ask for advice sorry! lol Glad you like my painting

No, no! That's exactly what I wanted to know!
Yeah, I think when I was applying the salt the paint was too wet, and I was using regular salt. I'll try your suggestion next time for sure.

Actually, this made me think of Trudi Canavan before I even saw the title. And that must mean it works.
