I've been waiting for the chance to drawn Philip Pullmans characters and i've now had the chance. This is my version of the front cover of the first novel, Northern Lights.Hope you like it!

I absolutely love your His Dark Materials series. It's beautiful and stylized. This one is my favorite. I just love the way Lyra's hair and the dust flow around the picture. Awesome.

I've only seen the movie. I forgot they were books too. That gives me some other ones to consider looking up and buying. I bet I'll spend over $50 in paperbacks alone.
I love the style you gave it. It's not exactly easy giving a glittery look in watercolor, lol. Did you use salt to give a texture on it?

Hmm. It probably would work if you sprinkled them further away from each other then let it set and try. I've had mixed results myself. I think it was weather or not the paint layer was light. I dunno.

I did yes, but it didn't really work. I tried a few things and the final look is probably about the 4th attempt. In the end i flicked different shades of paint over the area and dropped salt into the wet paint. So there i salt in there, in a few different ways

I've never read Northern Lights (I've seen the film though), but if it had this cover, I would definitely have picked it up by now. Beautiful cover Nia, love how everything is streaming out of the Golden Compass.
