Description Hi,

This is first visualization I made for "kolo architectural contest".
This is also my first big project and I am really happy about the results

The toilet was designed by my team partner Karol Zurawski. He is studying architecture on Warsaw University of Technology.

The subject of this contest was to create a beautiful and original beach toilet in Hel - Poland, something different...
We made a good team and finally we won ex aeqo second place

Big thanks goes to ~zipper !! Krzysiek rendered it for us in huge resolutions.

This is a composition or everything is rendered?

This is so photorealistic I think I'm going to puke.
How the heck did you do this. No. Don't tell me.
I can see already that my mind would explode.
Awesome work.

The scene was created in 3ds max and rendered with vray. The sand material is created with vraydisplacementmod. The displacement map was painted from scratch in photoshop. So the answer is: photoshop+max+vray+some stock imagery from stock.xchng.

Just browsing and found this simple yet very stunning design for a public toilet... I wouldn't mind "going" in there.

I like the design of the toilets and the interior renderings are flawless. The sand in the exterior renderings looks just a tad unrealistic to me. The little ripples are too sharp and that makes the beach look rocky, rather than smooth and sandy. I don't know if anything can be done to it from the rendering itself, maybe a post-render touch-up with some gaussian blur in photoshop would do the trick.

But apart from that, I'm stunned and... really motivated (~envious)

I found nice materials on [link] great site. Diffuse/bump/refraction map was made with photoshop... lots of cloning and smudging. Displacement map was my own invention, made from scratch in photoshop.

At first, I thought this was a photograph. That's how believable the textures and reflections look.

The choice of materials and the structure of the building interest me. The building itself reminds me of a certain rectangular-box house that was built in the 1940s when the Modernist Era was in its infacy. During the Modernist movement, it was more important to see the underlying structure of a building, rather than to make it appear as what it really is, and this picture portrays the principle. The materials used to make up this building seem to be glass, steel, and wood. These are the perfect compositional materials for modern design, and the way that these materials were put together reminds me of the contemporary work of the famous American architect, Frank Lloyd Wright.

I'm glad that you won second place. That's so much better than winning third place or nothing at all, because at least you are the closest to the ranking of first place.
