Darkness Descends

The night falls with a silent sigh, cold and scared are we.
the light for which we pine
It flares once, then it dies,
Its been swept away by the all-encompassing shadows.
Surely, all hope must die.

Our love is no more as it once was.
how could you not understand?
That the shadows surround us, crying,
that we have lost our way.

I sit here alone, dreaming of the night.
And hoping it brings an enduring peace
And yet my hope dies, leaving darkness in my heart.
