I visted Waverly Hills Sanatorium in Kentucky. It's one of the most haunted places in America, and we stayed over-night from 12am-8am.This is what they called the "Death Tunnel."
In the 30's when it was a tuburculosis hospital, they would send the dead bodys down this chute.
I got to walk down in it. Yeah, had fun walking back up it too
(its a 45% angle, and it's not easy) haha.63,000 people died there.

The 63,000 deaths is a rumor, isn't it? I personally want to see if Timmy is there. Timmy is the children's ward ghost....the story of this place IS really sad. Tuberculosis was also referred to as the white plague, because it spread, I think... but it's true, there was no cure then. Just fresh air and high morale...the 'death tunnel' or 'body chute' was used for bodies, yes, because the doctors and nurses knew that seeing bodies of men, women and children with the same disease the other patients had would make morale drop, so they used teh body chute to take them out and put them in a Hearse, discreetly removing the dead. TT^TT Sad, but true.

60.000 deaths isn't a rumor unfortunately. I found a note that sometimes even 5-6 patients died like in the same minute....
Search on youtube ghost adventure episode when they stayed in sanatourium for one night.

The funny thing is; there is nothing at the bottom but trash and a bunch of trees blown down. Its kinda gross. Sorry if that dissapoints you, but the tunnel was awesome going down. There was a bunch of cool graffiti.

Poor people...they just came to die, basically. And those nurses too. They couldn't escape the disease.

There wasn't really anything at the end, just a bunch of trash and fencing. There were trees and stuff but it was really muddy and really dark so I couldnt see that well.

There was a movie made in this mental hospital.
i seen it REALLY scary its called Death Tunnel. I went to the website and they caught a real ghost in camera. The actors and producers said that they felt really cold like the room was a freezer and then really hot. They said that they heard voices too.
i loved that movie since that movie i got fascinated in that kinda stuff.

Ugh, I hate long, dimly lit, slightly angled tunnels;
add the faint outline of any type of garishly colored clown at the end and you have a recurring nightmare...........dammit, see what u did; now i wont be able to sleep....

It was definitly a scary place.
But it was more sad, because they didn't have a cure back then, and were basically lost.
They also would store the dead bodys in the food freezor and they had a room where they just stacked them on top of eachother, because there were so many bodies.They just didn't know what to do with all of them.
It was actually just a sad place to experience.
