‘The Torso‘ from ‘Thirteen Ghosts’ (Jimmy Gambino)
This is an old poem I wrote for Jimmy, I entertained the idea to rewrite it; but, this is the original anyway. hope you like it!
Torso was a gambler in life,
Never turned down a bet.
To keep his reputation,
He died with this regret.
Offered more than he had,
When his name was jimmy.
Bit more than he could chew,
Promise too much money.
lost to his opponent,
And couldn’t afford to pay.
Forced to die in pieces,
paid another way.
Wrapped, inside the ocean,
Merely a torso left.
His death was set in motion,
When he shook on this bet.
Jimmy lived and died with a sin,
Now haunts his casino table.
To feed his hunger to win,
His habits not stable.
Torso peeks at players cards,
Whispers at times to stop now.
And when they go,
Feels he’s saved a life somehow.
His story lingers on,
While searching for his head.
Remember, play careful, and fair,
Or perhaps end up dead.
