Thanks, I have tried to drawn on memory in several of my most recent paintings. I will grant that my work doesn't do the real thing any justice but I hope to convey some portion of the beauty that is found there.

This painting is very atmospheric and moody, I love that you mixed the trees and the grass/ground cover look great. I can immediately see that you had muted the bark color on the birches to show that the light was fading...

The juxtaposition of the very dark cool forground and the very hot tones in the sunset are very dramatic...

Very nice job. I really like the sunset grassy areas in general. The fir trees are very well
done but I find the edge of the tree on the left side bothers my eye as it seems out of focus. I have one question - your light source appears to be just off center in the background and so shouldn't that tree on the left be in shadow and darker? still pretty good job and shows lots of promise for someone who regards themself as a beginner.

Hello and thanks for the feedback that evolved into a full blown, unsolicited critique. I must admit that I am confused though. If the art was flawed to the degree that you have so expertly outlined here, why bother commenting at all? Were you trying to make me a better artist or just using my art as an opportunity to demonstrate your expertise? I always appreciate feedback but the "request critique" option was disabled for reason, I am fully aware of my skill level and as you so eloquently stated, regard myself as a beginner.

First off I am not a painter nor an expert on art. I have studied books on art and seen other comments on what was right and what was wrong in a painting but that is the limit of my so called expertise. At best I qualify as an art lurker who on occasion gives his personal opinion.I noted your comment "any feedback being appreciated" and thought I'd tell you what I saw beyond a brief "nice picture". You seem to be taking it as a personal attack on your ability and for that I apologize. Although I'd tried to be careful in writing my thoughts, words can always be misleading.

I completely agree with this Mark, feedback shouldn't be delivered in this manner and a critiques are usually not well received when they are not asked for!
