Description Keep in mind, those are 1,5 m (5'03'') long bugs with pincers as long as your arms!
Going to Alola forest?

NOPE NOPE NOPE

All right, another drawing for great Collab from group!

-I'll try to update description soon, but now I just submitted is ASAP.

I'm grateful to krisantine for allowing me to work on it for longer time- especially that DANNG, LIFE.
And danng, in last minute I noticed I overlooked the grey part of Vikavolt body?
excuse me? A perfectionist like me could overlook such thing?!
...yeah....anything happens when you're under the stress and think of crazy past hours.

PS: me, someone who loves details, was had pleasure drawing some bug anatomy and lighting bolts,
tree trunk was nice thing to do, too

Don't worry about forgetting parts, I've left things off on purpose (like Floatzel's float) and on accident (I think I implied that I meant to make Keldeo's tail red, but it was actually a mistake I just couldn't explicitly fess up to, lol)

the glow was fun to do, while the wings...gave me some trouble, since the more I kept going, the further I went from my sketch, which was the closest to my image in the mind....
...so I needed some eraser help. Digital paitning is awesome with the ability to correct mistakes

Weirda-s-M-art In reply to ComanderSprings [2017-02-05 15:41:00 +0000 UTC]

Simply once the previous layer dries out, you can add pretty thick layer of light paint and there's no interaction between the completely dried out layer and the new one

Yaaaay, my wonderful Vikavolt fanart mets its audience, a Vikavolt fan~

Grubiella....pretty funny, since Pokemon's name, Grubbin, makes me always think of the polish word "gruby" which means "fat"
...I feel so sorry to all Grubbins I face....but then, same as Hariyama or Snorlax, in Pokemon World being fat gives you tanky "powers"

You're welcome!
Β  Question, would they try to flip each other over like some male stag beetles? Β Or are their outer mandibles to big to grab and pin the other Vikavolt down?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Weirda-s-M-art In reply to TheBarredOneOnceMore [2017-01-24 22:21:39 +0000 UTC]

I think same as irl stag beetles, they could try to grab the opponent and inject powerfu "final blow" with electric atatck- however, their magnetic field created at the start of the fight pulls them off, so it's much more difficult job- even if one will be exhausted to produce the electricity for longer, the opponent might be exhausted and not lift its opponent!

PS: thanks a lot for that question! I'll add this in updated description, but I need a rest before doing so -w-'

As always, lovely artwork, Weirda!
Windy Heatbur is hugging a Chargabug at the moment. I wonder if Ruben will still want or get hugs when he evolves into a Vikavolt?

(He probably will. Not because he's cowardly but because hugs are nice! And Windy hugs Durants too. She's got a thing for bugs!)
(h'm, she hasn't met a Scizor yet... )

i should really start drawing more bugs as it would help with my variaty
also you could imagien the accidental miss colour is just some individuals like know how every cat doesn't look the same?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Weirda-s-M-art In reply to Evodolka [2017-01-25 16:22:29 +0000 UTC]

If you enjoy making details and challenges of the anatomy, like me- then sure go on, bugs are great for that!
Also, they got a huuugee range of variety, plus many are colorful, so that could help you improve drawing skills, I guess ^^b

I knwo what you mean, but here I was doing a picture for Collaboration which got rules. All Pokemon has to be standard ones, with shiny coloration being additional, no OCs and too edgy variation from the original.
If original Vikavolt got grey abdomen, then I had to go with it. I think you understand why it mattered here.

oh ok that makes sense thank you for explaining
either way it looks great even without the grey

So... Furret is taller than vikavolt and is as tall as Exeggutor( Β  Β  version)

So... your Furret would likley be stabbed in the stomach from one of it's pinchers.

Mind you that I don't see every Pokedex size as a height.Β
Some Pokemon in my universe are measured from the shoulders (like horses irl), some by their height, some Pokedex sizes are actually their lenght, like for Vikavolt

So what abot Furret? I see it's Pokedex size as a lenght.

Wouldn't they be fighting on a rock since Vikavolt's pre-evo can evolve only on Vast Poni Canyon? But aside from that nitpick, I love this pic, surprise they just don't zap eachother til one of them falls over singed

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Weirda-s-M-art In reply to PerfectChaos22 [2017-02-08 21:56:20 +0000 UTC]

OHH true, true- but at the moment when I was drawing this fanart, I had no idea how exactly you evolve Charjabug, I thought it's in the area where you encounter them in wild and where you can see Magnetone to take a shot

With Vikavolt's coloration, including its shiny, I think Charjabug just evolve there and fly to other location, which is why we don't encounter them in the wild.

Thanks for pointing that out, once I'll get to update this submission wiht some "poke-science" trivia, I will consider this thought in it!

Haha, there's an explanation in my head why they won't do this "just like that" so please stay patient with me, like always
