Thanks Philippe, I am really pleased with this painting. I am finally getting comfortable painting trees.

I've actually been thinking of an image very similar to this the past few days.

I've been secretly wanting to do some landscapes. As soon as I can build enough confidence to try, I'll do it (((:

I have a hard time with trees, but since I have been practicing I have noticed some improvement, but I would still like to be better at them.

lol, you know, trees are one of those things that really intimidate me. And some people can do them in such a simple, yet effective way.
Recently I've been trying to find copies of Claudia Nice books on watercolor to learn more. Hers seem nicely illustrated and are well reviewed.

I have a couple of her books, I bought them at Borders. You can go on Amazon and look at books on there too, sometimes they sell them used in good condition for a lower price. There are book swaps online too, maybe you could swap something you no longer want for one of her books.

lol, hrrm.. maybe we DO think alike. Because that's what I've been waiting for. None of the swap sites I'm on currently have any copies. So I'm just... waiting. She just has so many that I wouldn't know which one to choose first, so I'll just see my luck and get whichever pops up available first.
Amazon is how I found her because I was originally looking for another author/artist's book. But then I previewed hers on Amazon and though, wow, these look good!

Her painting style is a little "rougher" than what I like but something about her work draws me to her. I like how she combines watercolor and pen and ink (one of my favorite styles). I have her sketchbook one (my husband found it on sale at Borders for ten dollars) and I happen to have the pen and ink one. I really like the sketchbook one because it's like looking into someone's personal s.b. I would recommend either one of those they are both good and full of a lot of information.
I'm like you I will wait till the right moment comes along before I will pay full price if I can help it.
