This is a very nice piece of work that has shown some good potentials and of course your interesting style of the media. YOur approach is good and the simplicity in both the design of the character and approach taken to colouring is interesting, you understand it well yet it does feel a little weak in some areas. The design does feel rather flat with the how you've presented the character face on rather than the exploration of presenting the character at an angle or playing around with the lighting to give it the illusion of 3d. Generally though the design just feels a little flat and while good it just needs a wee bit more work.
Your style has potentials, you know how to bring an interesting and loving appeal to the character be it yours or not.
