Day 1: Most Similar To Yourself

It just seemed correct to use the sketch I'd done a few days ago to finish this prompt. I ended up actually inking this twice because I forgot to improve the resolution on the original sketch. 😅 So, any feelings of possibility of this being cheating have been annihilated.

Anyway, as I explained in the original post, this is actually a tribute to an old picture I'd done in 2015. But the characters themselves have a significant reason for taking up day one this year.

Absel was specifically designed to reflect who I am in animal form, which is what makes her my fursona and is why she's the one I choose most often when venting and therapizing using art. Her personality reflects the more playful side of me when she's not fighting for her life.

Goliath, however, I've often said is quite literally the male version of me. He's closest-to-heart of all the characters I've written for so far, having a backstory that nearly mirrors mine and a personality that mirrors the more protective side of me. As I've grown as a person since his creation in 2010, he's grown with me. And, it is reflected in his stories, with his originally toxic attitude and behavior becoming much more kind and understanding over the years.

Both characters are incredibly resilient, which is what I would describe myself as. This is the one redeeming trait I know, for sure, that I have, so it makes sense both of them would reflect it.
