Two alert and gorgeous scouts for the rest of the herd? I adore horses and miss being able to be around them. Thank you for your drawings of them. They bring such a smile to my face.

You are so blessed to have that experience. I'm incredibly honored and flattered that my picture gave you that sort of emotional response. Thank you for sharing that beautiful story.

I think I have a penchant for drawing old horses too. Ones that are out to pasture and reflecting on their lives. Something fascinates me about that.

Horse are fascinating, and something that I personnally like about old horses is that even if they seem serein or nonchalant sometimes, they often are still very strong and some even keep doing little tricks to people taking care of them, especially in horse riding centers, with inexperienced riders, tricks they learned over time. And some even have their habits in the center, I remember a pony going from the stable to the paddock, and from the paddock to the stable on its own.

Wow, really? I only rode when I was younger, like around 13 or 14 was the last real time I rode. With my back, it can't really happen any more. I love taking photography of them though.

Ponies are usually smarter than horses, so they do a lot of things like that in centers. However, they don't always put their intelligence at good service. My godfather used to work in a stud farm ; when I was, I don't know, maybe seven years old, he bought me a young pony, since he knew that my father already had horses (he tried to make his way through the tough world of horse races ... it didn't work). That pony outsmarted me : he always found ways to keep me from putting him to work. Classic tricks of course, but when you're seven, it's kind of hard to deal with that on your own. I fell so many times! I remember I once fell 5 times in a row. I never got anything broken though. But my mother had some frights.
That's too bad... at least, I presume you could still enjoy a nice carriage ride some day. But taking photography is also a way to appreciate these animals, it's not all about riding them or harness them.

Ponies are characters. That's why it's My Little Pony instead of My Pretty Horse. Even back then, people knew that it would be more entertaining to share the antics of ponies than horses! And yes, I enjoy carriage rides from time to time. Sometimes just petting a horse is enough. It could be a lot worse! I don't have a cane any more and I can pick my girls up!
