Description
[ID: Several digital doodles with overlapping backgrounds and characters from Amphibia, the Owl House, Word Girl, and Gravity Falls. Going clockwise from the upper left drawing, 1. Luz Noceda gives Anne a piggyback ride while answering Anne’s questions about Amity represented by a speech bubble with Amity’s face and a question mark next to it. Luz’s answer is a speech bubble with Amity’s face and a heart next to it. The background is a bright blue and partly cloudy sky, with the green background of the doodle by Luz’s feet serves as grass. 2. Luz and Anne lie on a gray surface, with Luz curled up facing Anne and Anne on her back in a yellow jacket and grey shorts. Two speech bubbles, one with Hop Pop’s face and another with Sprig and Polly, surround her. 3. A large drawing of Seymour (Orlando) Smooth from Word Girl and Gideon Gleeful from Gravity Falls. They both wear blue shirts and have white pompadours. The background is a cell shaded gradient from blue to light green. 4. Violet Heaslip from Word Girl, blushing, shouts in a heart shaped speech bubble with Word Girl’s face and Becky’s faces and a equal sign between them. Word Girl with her helmet off, revealing a green headband, reacts with exaggerated surprise. Her eyes are shaded with heart shaped highlights and she blushes. The background is a circular gradient from pink at the center by Violet to yellow with white rays originating from the same place. 5. Violet blushes at a thought bubble with Todd “Scoops” Ming and Word Girl. The background is the bisexual flag. 6. Violet, much taller than Becky, is a bust while Becky is just a head. They make eye contact with both smiling and Violet blushing. The background is green. End ID]
This was really fun. I just doodled these and started coloring which is why the line art is loose and unpolished and blue. I enjoyed just making a whole unrelated doodle dump on one page like I used to, but hopefully better quality. Despite how all over the place it is, I hope the backgrounds manage to tie the scenes together in interesting ways. Also I know Amphibia and Owl House are coming in four days or so, which I AM quite excited for, but I have found a new hyperfixation: Word Girl! If I can find time to upload in between assignments, Word Girl will be a part of that. I will hopefully also finally share some Pathologic (Classic HD) sketches too. The characters sometimes look awful, but the concepts are super solid. Back to the scenes here, I wanted to draw my favorite kindred spirits (Anne and Luz) together because seeing them be besties makes my heart full. Their friendship might be contained in just a single non-canon crossover, but it is so sweet. They have so much to talk about so I tried to evoke some part of that.
The thing with Seymour Smooth and Gideon is that I don’t know too much about Seymour other than his rivalry with a fellow show host named Beau Handsome (I love names in WG). Despite that, the little I did see reinforced my intuition based on visuals that he was someone similar to Gideon in that they both seem con-man and specifically televangelist inspired and have blue stylish clothes and white upswept hair.
Then there’s some more Vibecky! I am blown away at how little attention this sweet friend-to-lovers ship is getting in the quickly expanding WG fandom. I suppose it’s for similar reasons that Amillow and Willuz are generally overlooked in favor of Lumity. One being, it’s not got any canon romantic implications —Even if Tobecky is aggressively one sided, at least one of them showed explicit romantic interest in the other— And two, it’s not enemies to lovers. Even if it’s just “a thing” that never gets explained, it’s still a weird part of the WG fandom. I’m trying to do my small part to fill that void. I’m also quite fond of Scoops so he’s here too.
