Description Here's the plug in place; an old wood fencepost was precisely the right diameter to fit my venturi blower. Now all I need to do is screw down the walls, spray foam around the edges to prevent clay leakage, and pour!

lookin nice, you just using fireclay? most of the (furnace) plans I have seen want some sand and foam grain (to burn out and make air space).

Yep, it's from a local ceramics company, the stuff's mixed specifically to pour like concrete and cure into firebrick. I took some pics after firing it, but they were smudgy, so I'll post new ones on Sunday, but... it's damned effective stuff, open-cell so water can escape. I fired it with a tiger torch, got a good 800C heat inside, and the cardboard wrapping I didn't bother to strip didn't even smoulder for the first half hour. I got a bit of smoke right at the end, but... getting 3/4" rebar to bright orange in the forge and not burning paper on the outside surface? Pretty good stuff, I think.
