Background:
- Arata was born and raised in Kirigakure. He has an older brother, Utakata, whom he really admires and looks up to.
- After Utakata left the village, Arata decided to also leave the village and go look for him and was attacked by shinobi of the Hidden Stone. He was later rescued by the Leaf Anbu and taken to the village.
- Even though officially he became the Leaf's hostage, the conditions they provided Arata with weren't bad. He was provided with an apartment and sent to the academy for "an express course" after completing which he was supposed to become a Leaf shinobi. He also had quite a lot of individual trainings.
- Still, Arata really missed his home and despised Konoha at first (despite conditions being better in the Leaf Village).
- A year later, he became part of Team Eiji along with Chieko and Kenshin.
- Although he used to be prejudiced against Leaf shinobi, after he spent more time in the village, interacting with its people and realized that he was accepted into their tight and friendly community, he changed his opinion about them and was happy to be part of their family.
Personality:
- Arata is a very boisterous and exuberant individual, which makes him a complete opposite of his older brother, Utakata.
- He's confident in his abilities and hates when someone doubts him.
- Arata is heedless to formality or social standings and often addresses people without appropriate titles.
- Arata can retain information pretty well and often spots details others might miss.
- Arata cares about Utakata a whole lot, even though the latter has never spent a lot of time with his younger brother. After Utakata left the Hidden Mist Village, Arata was constantly worrying about his brother's well-being. He misses his older brother a lot and hopes to become acknowledged so that Utakata would be proud of him.
- Arata has an impulsive personality which might be a pain to others. He has a sharp tongue and enjoys teasing. He is also often sarcastic which sometimes irritates others.
- Despite being quirky, Arata had a great sense of loyalty to his home village and is a reliable and honest friend who would risk his life without hesitating to save his friend.
- When it comes to battle, Arata is very collected and very cautious of his actions. He knows what's it like to be the group's leader and is good at giving orders.
Abilities:
- Arata is particularly skilled in Water Release techniques. He can also use the Hiding in Mist Tecnhique (the only genjutsu technique he can use) to obscure the movements of himself and his allies. His signature technique is Water Release: Foam Technique. This technique produces sticky froth which can cover a huge area around the enemy or the enemy himself preventing him from moving or blinding him.
- Although he learnt the Shadow Clone Jutsu, he prefers Water Clones over Shadow Clones.
- Arata showed great skills in taijutsu, as he was able to knock out Kenshin in their first sparring duel.
- His levels of physical strength are quite high as well.
