What we have here is a gigantic ancient terraforming structure. Could be a leftover by some ancient alien civilization. It's still working, but has a limited radius and that is why there is only a developed ecosystem in close proximity of the structure.
It could even be seen as a continuation of my earlier project – where they explore the ruins we see in the background of this scene. I'm not entirely happy with the end result but it's cool enough for some inspiration I think. Hope you guys like it.

I like the concept behind the work. The idea that the output of the machine/facility is enough to sustain a small growth of plants in the immediate vicinity is cool. I too am intrigued by the possibility of running across someone else's terraforming project.

Do you imagine partially functioning maintenance machinery to service the station? What are the vehicles in the foreground? Are they researchers who have discovered the ancient machine?

The station... I have no clue how it works and what keeps it working. Could be some automated maintenance system. Who knows?
