Description Terrence Exfort considers himself a modern person: he is well educated, believes in progress and science, adheres to liberal views. There was little grief in his life, his future was practically cloudless - and, it seems, this is what bothers him the most. He is fed up with conversations in fancy London parlours and smoking rooms, he is terrified with the prospect of his life spent reading newspapers and breakfasts at the gentlemen's club. He wants to act, to accomplish something significant, but ... There's nothing but intelligent conversations  on political topics in his circle of friends and aquaintances.  Hanging out with friends with questionable morals allows him to briefly escape from boredom, but those guilty pleasures are not enough. A trip to Ireland on estate matters provides Terrence with a chance to take a breath of fresh air and finally change at least something in someone else's life. All his knowledge, all his energy, which he has been accumulating for so long in, is finally something he can use to really make a change. In the Irish estate, where the hot-tempered snapper Eric MacTire runs the business, people are on the verge of starvation. Terrence wholeheartedly wants to help them, unlike other landlords who prefer to save their assets over trying to help people in need - but for some reason, even his own manager considers Terrance an unnecessary burden. Terrence has so much to learn about himself  and people who's lives he never considered important before that and that helping them is not about him...and his will to be "the good guy".

This is the original character from a Victorian era story  with  a gay protagonist we are writing with my partner,
