Great use of movements and flowing rhythms. Very harmonious use of color but still using enough contrast to sell the space. The choice of the pale colors for the face make an effective point of emphasis, its placement hear the top 1/3 is also a good choice. Overall the fabric plays very well to the design, the only place that I think could bring this out more convincing is in the chest area. here is seems the stylization of the clothing overrides the anatomy of the figure, for me it makes the space confusing

Thank you so much...this piece actually started a pic I took with my cell phone of a pile of garlic peels.....when it came to the dress...I wanted the dress to morph into her like she was apart of this dress...it was apart of her flesh...I always was inspired my the character from the Corpse's Bride since I have seen a lot of Fan art of her here dA..lol....I take textures and I get inspired...I see forms in things...it might not be spacial perfectness...it's different and has a surreal/fantasy feel to my pieces & that is what I'm going for...thanks again for your thoughts...I enjoy you comments...have a wonderful creative weekend my friend

Thank you so much!!! Yes, this piece is completely digital...I used a bamboo tablet from and Gimp 2 and my primary source of materials and the pressure sensitivity from the tablet pen allows an wonderful traditional feel to the piece with all he different brushes available in Gimp...lol...if you don't have a tablet...I recommend getting one...it has improved my artwork so much since I got it in May...lol

The dark colors of your works inspires the Vampires immediately. But I never saw such a beautiful and innocent faced vampire up to mow my friend. I am feeling a kind of sympathy to her. Your works are always dreamy and not so fearful even if you talk about the vampires...
Thanks for sharing my friend

Thanks for your comments, Tess, and for faving Twilight Mooring plus other pieces, much appreciated!

WELL, I've no yellow acrylic left and lots of black acrylic SO that determined the tone and the resultant technique.

Basically I built up my "lights" first rather than applying "darks" over light primer.

In a way, it's easier to get perspective because the oil isn't strong unless you apply it quite thickly, which I did for foreground.

I "sponged in" the distant sea with very thin oil and dotted in lights for contrast. Everything else done with a pallette knife or my priming brush, glad you like it!

Lovely, very crisp colours in Zoe Bee Loved, you've really mastered new technology. I'm a bit of a Luddite LOL!

By the way, I drew Old Times when I was 18, long ago! Nice to remember my ebb and flow.....

You're my DA dear friend Tess, have a good week!

John.

Your very welcome for the favorites John...really enjoyed viewing your recent works.....lol

No Yellow huh...well it worked out to your advantage...I think the choice in colors was unique and made sense...the far boat made it seem lighter like it was more in the distance...lol...The textures added a very withered effect to the piece as well..excellent work!!!

Thank you for viewing my Zoe piece...will be adding two new pieces this week in dedication to my husband's Birthday!!!

Have a wonderful week John

Thanks Tess!

I like The Spartan And The Arbiter, great composition and mood, quite dark! Halo eh? Erm, that new-fangled video game thingie....???

Me, child of the 80's....!

Yeah, I've just black primed another board over an early oil painting I was never too happy with - might do an angel piece, I'm not sure yet!

Well, happy birthday to your hubbie! I saw Near Dark again last night and you must catch it, at least as much a romance as it is a horror film and oddly appropriate perhaps!

Have a great week m'DA dear!

John.

Hi Tess,

Great to hear from you! Wow, strawberry chocolate and vanilla cake for hubby? Sounds delightful!

Well, I still like to shoot 'em up on an old N64, still presses the buttons! Liking your games ideas too....

I've posted my unfinished The Green Man in my Oil Paintings folder, please take a look.

I might darken the shaded side of the face more, glaze the rest and perhaps put in background lights for contrast, hmm, we'll see....

Never seen Fright or Fright II, I'm not massive on "pure" horror but still might do that John Carpenter All-Nighter next month, I'll think about it!

It's a rainy day and I'm catching up online. Perhaps I can give you my email Tess, it's johnfoster73@hotmail.com

I don't expect you to use it now. But if we somehow lost touch at DA it'd be a way to keep in touch?

And might catch a second run of Snow White, sounds good!

Always wonderful to hear from my lovely DA mate Tess, have a great week!

John.

Hi John,

Yes It was a wonderful birthday and we both really enjoyed the cake...lol :-P

I still have the N64 too...lol....great condition and still playing those game too...Mario Kart FTW...lol

Let me check out you new piece...excellent job once again...look to your piece for my comment...you might want to either but more highlight on the face of the figure...or make the background a little lighter...it would be interesting to seem like light was streaming down shining on him...mixing some streams of yellow.....there is actually a group dedicated to the Green Man myth...lol:

[link]

Your piece are very emotional to...you might want to join some groups dedicated to emotion...you can look through my groups I have quite a few of those groups there....

You should totally watch Fright Night 1 (original 1985 version) & 2...they are cult classics and there awesome...they are not really horror movies compared to horror movies these days...more on the lines of Near Dark...lol...Definitely catch Snow White again...might do some fan artwork dedicated to that movie...lol

Thanks for your email address John!!!
Add me on Facebook if you wish...lol
