Description
So what started off as just a sketch to pass the time turned full blown art. What.Anyways. I've been on a Dead Space 3 kick so my sketched turned out to be some sort of Rig. I don't know. Lots of mistakes and other non-logical-mechanical connections but it was fun to do to say the least.

Omg, long time no see, awesome artwork! -brick'd-
I think there's a lot of strong things going on in this image. Even though I complimented you on the armor, I'll do it again. It looks really nice and makes sense in my mind - esepcially the reflectiveness on the headpiece. I almost want to say that there's a couple of angle issues on the left shoulder and head of the suit, but I could be imagining things.
The background is just the right amount of color and detail, though I think a couple more stalagtites with sharp edges near the top would have helped guide the eye a bit more. I follow that beam of light to the face of the character, which then follows through the rest of the armor. Those sharp edges (in my mind) would have tempted my vision to rotate back to the face, which would have made for a stronger composition.
The smoke and glow added texture and depth, but I feel a bit more definition in the front of that billowing cloud would have doubled the effectiveness.
All in all though, one of the best pieces I've seen from you in a while!

But yes --- there are a lot of things I could have improved on - I'm at that point where I don't know exactly how to refine a background just yet. I suppose this is the beginning of background practice I suppose? Hopefully I'll get some of the basics down pack!

I doubt it'll take you that long to get the hang of it. A little bit of practice and a lot of studies does a person wonders.
