Description John Deere's four-wheel drive lineup remained very much the same as it had as 1982 began, but there were many improvements which set these models apart from their predecessors. One of the main features which distinguished these models was the corner post exhaust, which allowed for a tilting hood to be installed for ease of maintenance. The 8450 (225 horsepower) was the much the same as the 8440 and 30, and as was the 8650 (290 horsepower). The new model in this lineup was the 8850 (370 horsepower). It was equipped with a new V8 engine which found use in the 844 front loader and 892 excavator and it was Deere's most powerful engine up until that point.
