Description
This is the painting I did based on my sketch Shadows, which is based on a wonderful picture from *neeta.This one is made on a piece of wood, with acrilics, and the wings have some textures that you can't really appreciate here.

im thinking of failure when i see this... like the fairy failed at something.... i dunno. i havent seen too many sad fairies before.

thanks...well it was kinda how I felt for sometime...and well I feel related with fairies, and this picture was perfect for what I wanted to say.
The title means In the Shadows, although it doesn't have many shadows...jeje.
I don't know if it's failure, but just sadness...

I really like the color scheme you used, it seems so beautiful and light hearted, dream like. But her pose makes her seem as if she's devastated. Perhaps she has fallen, an angel trapped on earth? What I can see of the texture on the wings is interesting, did you just use thicker paint to get that effect? It's kinda hard to see with so much flash reflection. I really like how you did her skin tones, especially in the legs, working dark blues and purples in the shadows and coming up to pale pinks in the highlights. It's beautiful work

Thank you. Yeah I was experimenting with the colors to create a very light feeling...very surreal in a way....she's a fairy, so it had to be between fantasy and reality. I did the textures with paper and a mix with glue, then the paint on top. Yeah the picture doesn't let that show very well.

There is a sense of the textures and the colors are working great! The pose reminds me of the classic European Symbolist work. A great site for that is here:

I used to paint on Masonite and prefer wood surfaces.
