I like Pokemon with natural, animal-like anatomy so much that their original design seems no better than pixel sprites in the games. Enough to represent the species in a symbolic way, but unless I watch all the anime (which I'll never do), my brain will always interpret these simplified designs in a more naturalistic way. They just look unnaturally simple compared to humans in the anime. Though maybe it's okay for target audience, the kids.
