Description The full title should be Golda Zoya the Gravity Pirate.

Gravity is important way out in the black. Proper gravity keeps the body healthy and human. All kinds of technology is used to make sure a body keeps it’s feet on the ground. You can find the use of artificial gravity in star-ships and space-stations as well as in the terra forming process. No mater what the size of moon or planet, they make sure the weight pulling you down is just about the same as what you’d get standing on old Earth. That kind of powerful and important technology can fetch a high price on the black market. Now that brings us to Golda here.

Golda is a Rock Jockey. She grew up living on a mining claim in an asteroid field. Never in her life has she ever called a planet her home. She knows the importance of gravity and has seen the effect of it’s absence on the human body. At a young age she swore as god as her witness she would never go weightless again. Since the day she got off that old rock she’s been lying, stealing, and cheating for gravity tech and platinum that it provides.
Golda was stick thin and atrophied in her youth, these days she healthy, strong, and a bit of a looker. Her lower legs that were never quit right for walking have been replaced with shinny new metal ones. Still Golda ain’t quite right with herself and despite her success as a pirate, in her head, she’s still just a scrawny little girl floating free with no place to stet down.

I created this character as a colorful enemy of my Serenity character Roy. Here is a link for Roy. [link]
You will notice she sports a sword, that way Roy has someone to duel with. She is a character with a lot of attitude and can be rather ruthless but I kind of feel sorry for her.

Her costume was based on a sketch I did in high school. Here it is if you want to see how I used to draw way back then. [link]

I made a character for Serenity and never got a chance to play him, because the GM had a hissy fit over something and stormed out.

Stupid hissy fit throwing game masters! What set the GM off I wonder? Then again don't tell me. Well I have been reading the Serenity rules and I really would love to play but all I can do is dream. My life doesn't really allow for role playing games right now

Do you come up with the histories before or after you draw the pic? Either way, nice job on both the character's history and picture.

staino In reply to ChalklineChickadee [2009-04-19 02:47:41 +0000 UTC]

About half I have an idea of a story before I draw the character. If I don't have an idea who this person is before hand I get lots of ideas during the costume design process. It helps to know where they come from and what their back story is so that I can add elements of the costume that fit with who they are.

We need to introduce her to my Character HUNTER... an Honourary United Nations Treaty Enforcement Ranger who like the Marshals of the old West takes on the mantle of battling crime in the boom of the Solar System as humanity expands out to populate the other planets here in the near future. Like you girl, Golda, here seems to exhibit he also has a bum leg, a tight fitting leather emsemble and a big pistol a la Dirty Harry. I think they would make a darling couple like Batman and Selina Kyle the Catwoman.

"Great, of all the dames I have to fall for in the Galaxy, I choose one with a Gingerbread Man complex... come on HARV' let's get back to the ship and contact the UN and Space Patrol. Maybe Satyrna can pick up this ones trail for us..." Holstering the huge archaic Smith and Wesson beneath his arm our hero turns on his heel with his small hovering robot trailing him, he only glances back at the empty airlock once, his expression hidden behind the faceplate of his helmet.

Brother we need to combine our efforts and make this. Seriously I think we could have a winner here. Care to trade story ideas and see how well they can all fit together? Willing to collaborate?

BazNevermore In reply to staino [2009-04-21 05:13:21 +0000 UTC]

Perhaps technical aspects of it but the ideas are wherein lies the true talent. Anyone can sport a large vocabulary and have good command of grammar and spelling but that only makes them an editor not a writer. Your background ideas on your characters are very cool. Collaboratively I would have no problems being inspired by your ideas. Combined with my own we may just have something. It would be like the Wonder Twins... 'Form of a typewriter, shape of a comic book story. Wonder Twin powers activate!'

staino In reply to BazNevermore [2009-04-30 00:33:49 +0000 UTC]

You mean Gleek. Gleek the monkey. Not to be confused with Blip the monkey the pet of Jan And Jace of Space Ghost fame. Lets just get rid of all the monkeys and have Jan be our sidekick. In a Platypus costume. I sick that way.

Oh my goodness you remember Space Ghost... what about the real Birdman not this Harvey Birdman spoof?
They tried to get rid of all the monkeys already and look what happened in all the alternative reality futures... Planet of the Apes, 12 Monkeys.

Biiiirdmaaan! His only weakness is fighting crime indoors. And a cloudy day. And shade. Yeah the original non-spoof guys will always bee the real thing for me. The attorney at law thing is kind of funny but the Space Ghost talk show... well I really didn't get it. I suppose it's because I don't smoke weed.

Me either... don't see the attraction since the world is weird enough without mind altering substances.
Original cartoons are the best. Do you remember the other companion show to Birdman... the prehistoric family kind of like the Flinstones as real superheroes? I can't remember the name of it but it was a good one as well.
What I really miss is the REAL Bugs Bunny with one act of HILLARIOUS gratuitous violence every 30 seconds. Come on, really, do people think that cartoons are what is causing kids to through themselves out windows or hit each other with large solid objects?

Awesome job, for the umpteenth time! Gadgets are awesome, as usual. And I love how you have only one boot top folded down. You've improved a lot since your high school years--although I'd sure like to be able to draw as well as you did then!
So, is Roy the "good guy," or what? In a story line, having two sorta-good characters who hate each other usually results in them fighting a common enemy.
Out of curiousity (of your answer), what model shooter is that?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

staino In reply to inkeverlasting [2009-04-09 04:57:58 +0000 UTC]

Golda is the "Bad Guy" suppose. But she has her reasons for being bad. Heck, Roy is an outlaw half the time. Who knows? Lets just say Roy is the protagonist of the story. The gun is made up. Steampunk inspired. Fire huge shells.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

inkeverlasting In reply to staino [2009-04-11 02:37:07 +0000 UTC]

She does look kinda more like the bad guy--but an inwardly confused one. Let me say this: is Golda the antagonist? The main one? Do she and Roy join forces? Then, of course, you would need to call in the Ultimate Bad Guy.
Of course Roy is like an outlaw! He oozes it.
Ah--I almost thought you were going to give me the history of that type of gun!
Huge shells are good.

staino In reply to inkeverlasting [2009-04-11 16:25:46 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm, I could definitely see them joining forces against a ruthless crime lord. Interesting idea!

inkeverlasting In reply to staino [2009-04-13 01:38:09 +0000 UTC]

Hey, I try.
Just a minute...they're both kinda pirates, right? Couldn't they bond over that? And then have some rich guy start getting to their pirating sites first...you could even have Roy and Golda both hunting for some ancient, ginormous treasure, arguing and fighting when they keep meeting each other, but then joining together when this rich dude (with some crazy buff guy whose like a guard dog, so you can put in some sweet action scenes) starts searching for the treasure, too. Add some motives, secrets, backgrounds, character goals, and plot twists, and you're good!
That was a lot. Phew. Fun stuff, though. That would be my plot. You thinking of anything special?

Wow, I mean Wow. I'm speech-less. I'm so pleased you have taken an interest in my characters. What a story. Now I haven't made a drawing of her yet but Roy has a little female buddy who is sort of a potential love interest. Her name is Aria and she is a little thief stowaway. I wonder if she will get jealous of Roy getting teamed up with such a sexy lady?
