Description Pink Elephants from Le Docteur Oméga (1906) by Arnould Galopin.

“These elephants were monstrous … One had said huge mammoths [I couldn’t figure that one out. I don’t speak French.] … But what astonished us most of all were their color.

They were pink, of a soft hue; only, their ears and tail were black.

They wore curved tusks in formidable hooks … and their front legs seemed longer than their back legs…

They probably took the Cosmos for an animal as they rushed on him by sounding a cry that was not a trumpeting, but an audible hum quite similar to that of push seals as they rise to the surface of the water after a long plunge.”

Similar. I based it on the Platybelodon.
