Absolutely Excellent - I imagine this is the younger Gargantua, since a creature with that sort of heft in a universe full of supernatural competitors is likely to have the scars of a few old war wounds to show for a career of any serious length.

Question: Are there pop-culture gorillas in the Apex Society universe? Stuff like gorillas as ten-foot-tall vicious monsters.

Yup, they exist alongside more realistic gorillas.

Nice!
I take it that The Lost World is also a thing, as it's likely public domain - what about Skull Island, though? Or at least the general idea of an island full of prehistoric murder machines.

Lost World as in the novel? Yeah, that exists (it's in South America). There are also various other places with prehistoric life - like Caspak in the Antarctic regions from The Land that Time Forgot books, and the Hollow Earth realm of Pellucidar.
Skull Island isn't Public Domain, but I'm brainstorming possible substitutes. I have a unique take on the Godzilla franchise's Monster Island, though, but I'm saving it for a reveal in an actual story.

For Skull Island, perhaps you could go with retrosaurs specifically - stuff like the works of Burian and Charles R Knight mixed with Victorian paleoart (Particularly that of John Martin) combined with Warhammer's Lustria and the idea of the prehistoric world being this searing tropical death world where everything's trying to murder each other. (Fun fact: That sorta primeval hellscape was actually what was depicted in Duria Antiquior, the very oldest piece of paleoart!)
