Is she afraid of the whole Concept of death, or did she have an illness that would have killd her before old age?
And the demons power turn her eyes red?

SlickClaw In reply to KannaAsa [2019-04-20 01:33:48 +0000 UTC]
My guess is the former but we'll see lol
And I think that's just the lighting. Whenever she's in the dark forest her eyes look redder, but when she's in the light they're amber. It could be the demon though.

Edit from after reading, with minor spoilers i guess: it's not the lighting lol, it comes up later in the comic

Honestly death sounds like a better alternative to being blackmailed into murder by a demon tree. πΒ

Immortality : )
Dying is pretty sucky.

Well, I'm under impression that this tree is feeding her empty promises. Unless it plans to turn her into another demonic tree (there happened to be a forest of those somehow).

The coastal forests of Alaska are extremely healthy due in no small part to the amount of fish bears eat. They take the fish and devour the skin and fat and leave the rest of the carcass to decompose in the surrounding forests. The plant life benefit from the nutrients and minerals left by the fish. The Deadwood Tree ought to take a leaf from their book - think of it as free room service and catering, and the doe wouldn't have to go through all the effort of braining fluffy bunnies.Β

Out of curiosity, does she break the branches or do they pull away on their own?

They're flexible roots, so they can pull away on their own ^^

Something about this page reminded me of when LSoH hit that path so I felt I had to make it. When it went from demanding blood to demanding humans/meat instead. Actually made me shiver then and this made me shiver now.

The impression I'm getting so far with the interactions between the doe and the tree is that the doe has some fear of death.Β (Maybe she was even dead for a while?)Β She wants to be free of the natural order of death, but now is submitted to a tree that looms a supernatural death order over her...
At least that is my take so far...
