Yeah, I think for the most part everyone feels this way about their fur friends. I know I do. I wish there was such a thing as a forever fur friend.

I guess it can be hard to maintain a healthy fitness and dietary routine with all of the distractions that contemporary culture has to offer? Also, most western food has high sugar or salt content. A documentary I saw ages ago about China suggested that many people suffer from diabetes due to the amount of sugar in white rice. It's guess it's necessary to be highly selective on buying food which can be harder when most people probably just want to buy food for the week and go home. Perhaps if someone is feeling particularly lazy try to do things like take the stairs instead of an elevator or parking the car a little farther away from work and choosing to walk. I get how it's easy to take short cuts, many people probably do 40+ hours weeks at work. I once saw a documentary about Japan on YouTube, apparently it's common to work from 9am to 10pm. But Japan has more healthy eating options than the US, less takeout concerning high fat meals like Mc Donald's, Wendies' or Burger King, or at least this is what the documentary stated.
...I'm supplementing my puppies food with fresh meat, they also get a fresh egg once a day and Omega 3 6 9 oil which promotes healthy joints, coat and eyes. The difference is noticeable.
