This scene depicts Katy & Her Best Friend, Melissa Sanches, with Captain Bill and Carlos ( Carlos is like an uncle to Katy and helped to raise her from infancy ). Katy and Carlos have not seen each other in nearly a year, since Her transmutation from Surfer Girl Katy into Mermaid Katy, and like everyone else Carlos believes that Katy was killed in the shark attack.

In order to surprise Katy Captain Bill has recruited Carlos to join the crew of Katy's new ship without telling anyone. Resulting in the stunned look on everyones' faces, except for the Captain.

You could almost see the wheels turning in Carlos' head as he tried to process what he was seeing.
It was his beloved Katy, and she was alive! But it couldn't be Katy?

It was a Mermaid? That looked like Katy?

But Mermaids don't exist and Katy had died.

But it was Katy, and she was alive, and she was the Mermaid!

And the Mermaid was pregnant.

Katy was alive and she was a Mermaid and she was very, very pregnant?

Carlos' mind very slowly boggled and then seemed to just freeze up.
