Description I wandered once in summers lost
Through verdant woods now gripped by snow,
In winter months the ice and frost
Make those days seem so long ago,
The flakes drift down to rest on trees
The breeze is whispering my name,
As all around the woodlands freeze,
Rest too long, and I'll do the same.

No winter woolen coat have I,
But cloak of wind, and cap of sky.

I shrug my muscles in my pack,
Adjust the ski poles in my hand.
It's really time I headed back,
But just a moment more I'll stand.
The swirls of chalk in skies of slate
Now lie in blankets on the ground
The pine boughs sag beneath the weight,
The forests sing without a sound.
