Description

This is an exercise I do regularly. I redraw something by an artist I admire as a way to see how they solve problems in their work. I generally have a few of these laying around the studio. It's a good way to get warmed up for inking. I generally pick away at these for weeks. A little bit to get warmed up and then eventually they are finished.

This image was based on a photo of a model Gil Elvgren used for his pinup work.

This is 11 x 17 on Bristol board brush and ink with copic markers for tones. Inked with a Raphael Martre Kolinksy 8404 #2 brush.

This one wasn't really a recreation. I just used the same photo reference as Elvgren. Which is something I'll think I'll try again as there is so much of it available.Β It's interesting to me see the differences I suppose.Β
