Description

Aelfdreim and Mensendreim -the old and the new city quarters of Aelfdreim- around the time of the First War of the Power, circa 2200 a.a.H

By the time of the First War of the Power (2203-2223 a.a.H), the city of Aelfdreim (as the spelling of it began to change) had developed in two distinctive neighbourhoods: the Old city, or Old Aelfdreim, surrounded by stone walls that contained the Elferie or elven quarters for the grey elves inhabitants up in the hill, and the new city, New Aelfdreim or "Mensendreim", the lower city inhabited by humans, that had grow and was protected by a palisade surrounding it.

As human population increased, New Alfdreim -or Mensendreim- began to envelope the old city, and in the farmlands, humans began to protest to the baron of Hanat, for elves having property over the land, which lead during the years before the First War of the Power to a worsening of the situation for the elves in Alfdreim, as they where banned from owning farms, and where to live within the walls of the old city.

During the First War of the Power, as the armies of the Dark Legions of Demons marched into Alfdreim, having heard of the defeat of of the kingdom in the Battle of Degoland, the town-council surrendered the city rather than to fight, opening the gates for the city to be sacked, but not destroyed, and the lives of their inhabitants respected but not their properties by the dark legionnaires.

During the occupation of Degoland, the old keep of the baron had a Dark legion Garrison, and the demon commander brought blood elves witches and officers, to try to persuade the grey elven population to serve the Dark Legion, yet the results of their propaganda were only a moderate success.

When was heard by the Dark Legions of the defeats they had suffered in southern and central Aels and that the demons were on the retreat to defend their homelands in Polforia, Aelfdreim was abandoned by the Dark Legion, but not before sacking it once more time, tearing down the baronial keep and burning down most of Mensendreim.

I really do admire and somewhat envy your ability to take your artistic vision and set it down in such fine form for others to see! (One would truly love to be able to illustrate the worlds and characters I've been tinkering with for years, but completing lack 'drawing power').

This sort of 'dual city' or elven city becoming a human city with elves as important minorities is much how I imagine the development of Priva.

Indeed But in Priva I think in general elven culture, while of a minority, was for long more open and less frowned upon?

Oh, yes.  In a sense, the elven government sort of stayed 'spiritually' in charge.  Maybe even keeping a figurehead elven queen.

I imagined early Priva as a Rossnes or High elf city state, with multiple other little elven city states about.  Maybe Priva was a high elf colony with native Rossnes elves living around them antagonistic or wary to them for a time?  Proto human Amazons wandering in from the southeast as mysterious people. (I've had the idea of Sky Age women scientists and technicians suddenly isolated in the field after the Fall for a long time).  Basically, the Amazons having some sedentary communities growing up near elven city states, particularly Priva.  They might have originally had an idea of using the Bay to build ships and head back towards Eden, but 1. they are already descendants and have no real connection, 2. Eden is likely dead anyway, 3. More time goes by and they don't really care any more.  4. They've started to develop a matriarchal system, with more gender neutral, or even matriarchal elves posing no counter this and even encouragement.

5. The Amazons of the Bay area essentially become half-elves for all their crossbreeding with elves.  This also prevents them from ever leaving as they are now 'not human'.  This situation changing as further centuries of crossbreeding with other Amazon tribes, and then other human immigrants turns the Priva 'half elves' back into 'humans'.

Basically, the proto amazons were very small in number and would increase numbers slowly compared to most human societies and situation due to early difficulties, surviving largely due to elves in Polforia and Priva in the Hieyokscream Bay.  They eventually grow and humans outnumber the elves, Priva going from THE municipal civilization into effectively an elferie, but in slow motion over a huge period of time.  Elves always having a major part at the table.  The Bay Amazons having a culture and civilization that heavily borrowed from their elven hosts.

The Privan Queendom eventually coalescing out of several little cities where similar relationships were happening.  Some more isolated, such as maybe a couple on on a Bay island and peninsula, and remaining far more elven in people and culture.  This kept elves at the table and from humans from mostly 'winning' as they might have in Priva itself?

And, the long association with humans probably did much to turn the elves of the Bay into 'Half elves' as well.  At first, elves were winning the 'numbers game', of crossbreeding, but humans winning out in the end.  On the other hand, elven culture in large part 'won', at least until the demon conquest of the 1rst War of the Power.

Other Amazons were either far more human, or had Kanov and orc crossbreeding as I sort of imagine many of the southern hill amazons to be who become the adversarial Amazon tribes.  The Angstros Amazons that eventually join the Priva 'empire' being a city-state with less elven blood and maybe some Galaw orc?  But generally being more human in blood and culture and adversaries for a time before joining, preferring to join Priva rather than more tribal Amazons and concerned about the rise of the demons.  Angstros being 'Greek-like' and starting to look primitive for the age it exists in though, sometime in the 19th or 20th Centuries a.a.H.
