the vampire race were born in Char, but were relocated to Selen after Evil's war with the gods, because they helped kill the last of the gods, the vampires were allowed the vast continent of Selen and under the leadership of their Queen, Elenar the Deathless, they thrived, building great city's from rock and stone, the greatest and largest of which is Casona.
However this prize did not come without a price, the frost giants native to Selen had several war's with the vampires and thus were moved to Nealenari in an effort to prevent a full scale conflict, to this day vampires and frost giants do not get along.

Vampires are an undead race, they cannot survive in sunlight or stand a whiff of garlic, they are fast, agile and adapt at using the corrupted magic that runs through their black veins, Vampires can also transform into a bat at will, the older the vampire the bigger the form of bat they turn into.
