Thanks. I love finding passages like these to razor out, and it's amazing how they work serendipitously together.

I like this a lot; both for what it says plainly and for what seems to be implied.
Also the image of the kids who appear to be in a classroom reminds me of how childlike and uninformed so many adults are. The three out of four who are paying attention seem to have a "huh"? expression on their faces.

Thank you, yes, finding that scrap with the kids made this one work. Childlike adults, man, how true that is.

freedom is not always joyful

no... but is there ever joy without it? is that too obvious a reply?

it's not too obvious, because for me, it's not that obvious

RichardLeach In reply to Izaaaaa [2010-04-01 12:48:25 +0000 UTC]

well, it's not a day for philosophy, these April fool avatars are upsetting me, but - I think there is always freedom in joy - but not so much the getting-out-of-things freedom as the getting-where-you-want-to-go freedom. hmmm, it feels like this discussion is related to your bond journal today. interesting coincidence.

Izaaaaa In reply to RichardLeach [2010-04-01 17:16:08 +0000 UTC]

i know, upsetting, they are! at least i got the nicest one
indeed it's related to my journal. you have a good intuition, as always.
i was also thinking about the different kinds of freedom. the nothing-left-to-loose kind and the freedom-of-choice kind... i'm absolutely thorn between opposites, again. *sigh* but yes, joy is in the second kind, the commitment kind. the risky kind.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RichardLeach In reply to Izaaaaa [2010-04-01 17:24:19 +0000 UTC]

the avatars - i don't know who i'm talking to at a glance, i have to read the name - only a moment but i can feel the difference.

and that's exactly so... people think cutting loose is risky, commitment is the bigger risk.

Izaaaaa In reply to RichardLeach [2010-04-01 17:36:46 +0000 UTC]

i know - well it will make us appreciate the icons even moe when they come back

yes.. but if you don't take the risk, you don't get all the goodness... that comes from true sharing. that's what i tell myself on my good days, anyway. on my bad days, i tell myself that it's not worth all the pain.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RichardLeach In reply to Izaaaaa [2010-04-01 17:48:17 +0000 UTC]

i wholly agree, the only way to the goodness is that risk of commitment. it's worth it - when it's the right commitment - but one never sees the whole future - it's a choice not a formula... i hear you about the good and bad days - my next thought is some cliche about life, but i don't like cliches so i'm going to hit send

Izaaaaa In reply to RichardLeach [2010-04-01 18:05:44 +0000 UTC]

hehehe
yea
indeed, we never know if the choice is the right choice
and that is so killing me
because i feel so far my choices were not all that good
well maybe i'm just too hard on myself
and maybe i don't try hard enough
and maybe those maybes are superfluous
and those thoughts run around in circles in my head and i just wish for a lobotomy, some days.

RichardLeach In reply to Izaaaaa [2010-04-01 18:18:56 +0000 UTC]

i have a strong suspicion you are too hard on yourself. but everyone has to follow her own path - one of my sons is easy-going, one is intense, but they are both great - i just try to get the intense one to give himself a break once in a while (and remind the laid back one of some things to take seriously).

the thoughts in circles, yeah - how to jump off that merry go round, what's the key thing to focus on - not easy to figure. so many offers and demands, which can be trusted, which to take.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Izaaaaa In reply to RichardLeach [2010-04-01 18:31:13 +0000 UTC]

yea, that's what people tell me (i'm too hard on myself). but it leads to giving up easily. it's all related.
and yes, we all have our own tempers and issues. it's quite fascinating, all in all. how interesting, for your sons, so different

i've got to find a way out of the circle, any way, maybe. i don't feel there are that many offers and demands, though. but maybe i'm just closing my eyes.

gotta go to worky work, now!

an acute sense of what is, is good!

especially if there is some joy to be found - one of the key words for me in this one.
