Description This is a French variety of tea rose from 1922 that I grew from a cutting way back in 1996 when the bush was being uprooted by a demolition squad at a former workplace It's an excellent rose, very healthy and with the most divine scent. It's also very rare here.

It is a beauty...I can almost smell it! The older varieties of rose smell so incredible. The newer ones are nothing in comparison and it's disappointing to smell most of them. I always wondered what all the fuss was about until I smelt an old variety and they're just divine! Beautiful capture...

Thank you and also for the favourite. I certainly agree with you, and also as to their appearance, actually. So many of the old roses are far more beautiful in terms of the flowers and the plant itself, than the newer ones. So many of the new ones are very ugly plants and I was completely uninterested in them until I discovered the old roses.

Hello Kathi! Good to hear from you again and thanks so much for the favourite If I lived in the USA I'd buy some mugs from dA using this....it'd be great to have one's own artwork on something, but postage here is so expensive that if they didn't look as good as I'd hoped, it'd be a bit awful

Thankyou for submitting this as a print. It's one of the most beautiful rose photographs I've seen on deviantart and mum loves roses of this colour so I thought I'd get a print for her on mothers day. Sorry for the delayed comment

That's OK about the delay....not everyone hangs off the internet every day I *do* hope the print turns out well. Sometimes things that look good on screen don't when they're printed, but I think this one will, so please let me know and thank you so much for liking it so much...means a lot

I love the old varieties - they smell like roses are supposed to smell! So many now are so over bred for color or pest resistance that they don't have any scent I took a shot of my birthday bouquet - from my new garden - but my recently updated AVG antivirus is fighting with dA and not allowing me to upload anything...I've tried turning off my firewall but still no good ... pout! I'll have to dump the new upgrade and reinstall the original, but that means finding the disc in the boxes still packed in the garage

You really are a great nature photographer, you know just how to capture the shot.

That's a lovely thing to say....I guess I just love it all so much that I can quickly see a good angle. I've literally been gardening since I was 4 years old! Wanting to do macros is the main reason I bought a decent camera, but of course found out soon enough that there's a lot more out there to capture

I think gardening and botany is really interesting, but I've never really gotten deeply involved. I'd probably just kill the plants anyways by accident.

Thank you again, Jean. I do so love this rose. It is one of the few I managed to grow from a cutting that I rescued before the plant was demolished by builders at a place I once worked It's quite rare here and it was many years before I discovered its name and type. It's a very hardy, healthy rose that doesn't need pruning or even much dead-heading, being an old Tea Rose. It was in a pot but when I finally released it into the garden, it was soooo grateful.

Thank you! It has the most wonderful scent as well. The flowers only last one day, but it usually has quite a few, so that doesn't matter. It's one of the old varieties (Tea Rose) that I grew from a cutting. If I had room for only one rose, this would be it.
