Description Hi guys, finally back on the internet, really sorry for the long absence.

I always wanted to make a tutorial about how to make circle without the help of Photoshop, but I'm not very sure if there's already a tutorial about this on DA or not, but I guess it's alright since mine is quite simple.orz

I think most of the SAI user which is familiar with the shortcuts might know this small "trick", so this tutorial is aiming for both beginner and also novice SAI users.

I hope it's not too hard to understand, it's rather straight-forward I guess.^^

the keyboard shortcut to rotate the canvas might be different. have you tried pressing the end key instead?

I believe you were the one who taught me this.
To add to it, you can make a decent sized circle this way using the vector curve, in it's own file,Β  set to it it's own layer. Save it as a .Sai file as an 'asset' and store somewhere easy to find. Then any time you need a circle, pop open the file, drag the circle layer into your project and instant, infinitely scalable circle. I do the same thing with other reusable, pesky to make shapes.

thank you so much! i've been struggling with circles for a while

but I have a question - what if you wanted to make a smaller circle?

Just use the transform option in SAI, it should be alright.

I can't seem to do this. My computer doesnt allow me to press the del key and mouse at the same time :/

Liekkisointu In reply to miyuurii [2018-03-18 15:37:00 +0000 UTC]

you don't have to press them at the same time, you can just press del, then click on your mouse (make sure that your mouse is not moving, just press the left mouse button), then press del again, then click again, and do that for a while and you'll get a circle!

I don't have a del key? I looked in the shortcuts on sai but I can't find a rotate option. Can someone tell me where it is?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

AmazingSundae In reply to MysticOwl13 [2018-03-18 21:16:17 +0000 UTC]

It may say "delete" if you can't find it.
It's right on top of the backspace button it should be there or else your keyboard is weird

xXOmqJessicaXx In reply to MysticOwl13 [2018-02-20 08:11:16 +0000 UTC]

Huh? What do you mean you don't have a del key? It's the thing in the top right corner of your keyboard labeledΒ "delete"

You can configure your "rotate key" to any other key on your keyboard.

a "rotate key"???? wats that

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AmazingSundae In reply to BOB-20 [2018-03-18 21:26:08 +0000 UTC]

are you sure you don't have one? It actually says "delete" on some keyboards, including mine, and it's located right above the backspace button (you should know where that is we use it all the time)

also, if you still don't have one, click "Others" on the top of the screen. Hit "Keyboard Shortcuts". On the left of the pop up, scroll until you find the key you want to rotate the canvas instead of the del key. Click on that key, so let's say the "/" key. On the right side, hit "View". Then hit "Rotate View 90Β° counter-clockwise." Now hit "OK" at the bottom. Now, to rotate the canvas to make the circle, you can hit the key you changed it to earlier, so in this case "/", instead of the del key.

On the layer, press control T and hold shift while dragging one of the diagonal anchor points, you should be able to change the size and keep it proportionalΒ

Hm...
Why not make a "dot" with the Brush (one Click)
Then do the same with the eraser, but a bit smaller dot, to erase out the middle...?!

You do much work for just a Circle....xD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MonstaiART In reply to Kajinari [2017-02-03 20:31:13 +0000 UTC]

It's not as perfect if you do that. If you dont use the eraser right in the center it might be larger on a side and thinner in the other (circles have sides now, ok?) That's still a good idea if you're not super perfectionist XD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AceOfSpades-Lena In reply to MonstaiART [2017-02-22 17:33:59 +0000 UTC]

Or if you're drawing something that is not "organic"... for example I'm drawing a jar right now... won't make sence for it to be uneven
