Ten-minute thinger I sketched during the usual Ungodly Four Hours of Monday Math. It's amazing what boredom and the back of a midterm can turn into, eh?I usually fail at rocks, but I actually kind of like these. So, as a trade-off, today I failed at clouds, lightning bolts and lighting coming from said lightning bolts.
Pic is mine, Jolteon is not. Whatever.

You don't appear to have failed at anything here, actually. I think everything about this picture, from the sketchy linework to even the bolts of lightning complement each other pretty well.

Here is a comment. =_= (which you should appreciate more than other peoples comments because I HATE WRITING COMMENTS GSADGsd)
WELL background gives you ++ especially because it's shiny thunderraining background. And it gives the jolteon real ... emotion, the whole picture really, without the background would look kinda plain even with the jolteon's clear expression (though that goes for MOST drawings...).
I also think the lightning is better than you give it credit for, it fits the style even if it isn't 'realistic'... if you want to do really realistic lightning you can look for tutorials on it (though even with tuts I FAIL at lightning gah) but I think it looks pretty cool. I'd just suggest putting highlights on the jolteon (and maybe the mountain-rock-thingy) that're lightning-coloured.
AND for the jolteon, I really love his expression. It's simple but effective and his general body posture really... gets the message across that he's angry. xD I also reaaaally love the way you do lineart, it's sort of sketchy and stuff? I love that style. x_X

I agree that the lighting from the lightning could be better... like, brighter, harsher, something like that. But I tried making it really bright and high-contrast, and it looked... bad. It was probably correct, too, but I just didn't like it. I'll get it right one of these days.
I like my lazy lineart, too. It's not even really trying to do "sketchy lineart", it's just the base sketch I start with and then I barely clean it up at all. The path of least resistance, whoo.

Well, if you save as a .psd you can keep trying forever. Though I tend to be finished with drawings whenever I decide I'm done with them and then I never go back to them even if I still have the .psd... just because editing a drawing after I feel like it's done is SUCH a pain. o_O; YAKNOW. sdfsd

Wow i love it! Yeah the rocks look fantastic, it all fits in so well with Jolteon. Although a Manectric is easier to imagine standing up on a rock in a storm.

Lol i see, we all have those moods sometimes though don't we? THose irresistable evoliutions (Espeon, Umbreon and Jolteon mainly <3)
