Description The Naso-eel is a deep sea scavenger of the southern Agrona ocean, its distribution is higher in southern latitudes. As the name implies it has a large rostrum that is full of chemoreceptors that it uses to find carcasses. They survive on an infrequent supply of dead animals that sink to the bottom. They use their proboscis to scrap the flesh from bones, an archaic trait they possess. They can go for a year without food, going into a dormant state underground until they smell food again. It’s clear that they represent a very old clade of rytioneura, having simple eye structures. When giant animals die and sink into the abyss mason-eels are first to arrive. Preferring to dine on soft tissues first, not on bones. They even lack a hardened skeleton which lets them wiggle deep inside of a body. They are well known for excavating bone from other animals to reach for nooks and crannies they can live in.
