I can't imagine how you could write / paint something which isn't already part of you. If it wouldn't be, you wouldn't know it and then you wouldn't find the right way to express it.

Oh, yes. Though I'm guessing most of them go something like this: "Once upon a time there was a mouse... No, a lion... No, a bear! No, no, I think it was a snake... Well in any case, it lived happily ever af... An eagle! Or, maybe a sparrow... I'm pretty sure it was somekind of bird, though. Or, an insect. A flying thing nonetheless, or a creepy-crawly one."
