How the heck did she manage to swap out their hairstyles? Are they wearing wigs of a sort, or is it just her wearing a wig over shorter hair that she put on him? And, since they both appear to be full-body conversions (he could be wearing a bodysuit, but I can't imagine why it would have rivets or metallic-esque panels), why the navels? Are they just there to be reminiscent of a human body, or do they have some sort of function?
Also, if he's a full-conversion cyborg like her, why does he feel the need to wear pants? Does he still have _that_ equipment? She doesn't appear to...

They are just wigs - with some form of attachment system that allows for easy removal when required. As they are full borg, they can't grow hair of their own.
I decided having pseudo-navels was as good a way as any of indicating they are in fact naked/half naked and NOT wearing bodysuits.
As for the pants, he feels psychologically naked when he's out and about, but in this case, he specifically put them on so as not to distress her.

And while I'm on the topic of their bodies, what kind of conditions are they built to endure? Do they even need to breathe? The more I think about this, the more interesting ideas I keep having.

nope- he calls it synth-skin - synthetic skin. His "stubble" doesn't grow either.
The bodies are designed for "hostile environments" so everything from space to war.
And as an amusing note - I've since re-rendered and removed their navels anyway.
