Description
As always, the spaceships are followed by the space stations. So now we come to the space stations of the MSA. Unlike the original models, where I have presented all kinds of space stations in one picture, this time I will present each space station class individually.
This is the Rakshak-I-Combat-Space-Station. I also stay true to the original concept with the space stations. In other words, all Hokumat space stations are built out of decommissioned capital ships. The Rakshak-I-space-stations are, like the original model, former Cotlorn-Class destroyers. As with the original model, the drive systems and all associated components are simply removed. The resulting space is used for additional weapons system.
Weapons:
2x Long-Range plasma cannons cal. 150 mm (1x at the bow, 1x at the rear)
2x 21 launcher each with 6 missiles (a total of 504 anti-ship missiles)
4x 20 launcher each with 98 interceptor missiles (a total of 7840 interceptor missiles)
4x Rapid-fire plasma cannons cal. 40 mm
Since the space stations are only limited mobility, the front and rear cannon were removed and replaced by the two 150 -mm guns, which are installed in rotatable turrets.
However, I change the mission profile of all space stations. Originally, the orbital defense system consisted of a single space station type, built from former Cotlorn-Class destroyers and three different defense satellites, each based on one of the other space ship classes. In this system, these space stations were intended primarily as a satellite control center, although the space stations were heavily armed enough to participate directly in the defense.
The new system, on the other hand, is based on three space station types Rakshak-I, Rakshak-II and Rakshak-III-. Type-II- is based on decommissioned Gonervent-Class cruisers and Type-III- is built from Pairmetor-Class battleships. None of these space stations are remotely controlled, unlike satellites, all have a permanent crew. To provide additional space for the additional weapons, the space stations have extended bridge towers and a second bridge tower. So all crew quarters could be removed from the main hull and be moved into the two bridge towers. Additional effect, the number of sensors could be quadrupled, which tripled the performance of the sensor systems.
As with the old mission profile, these units fight the enemy from different distances. The three Rakshak-I-space-stations shown here are intended for the "close combat". They are stationed directly in orbit of the MHM worlds. They are both, distraction from the long-range-combat-space-stations and last orbital defense line.
Therefore, these space stations are always grouped at least in triple formations, as shown here. Thus, support from at least two other Rakshak-I-space-stations is always guaranteed.
