Description ...the sound was like an explosion, a giant ball of fire flying across an untarnished landscape.

This, not much I can say I guess. I couldn't sleep at all the night/morning I took it because I was lonely, and as soon as I saw the sunrise I had to shoot it. I didn't care what camera, what film, how it turned out, but it was there for the taking. I ended up using a $5 camera with some Fuji ISO200 and taking the entire roll. Then, being the day before I'd been with Erin 3 months, I decided that not only should it be inspired by, but dedicated to her as well.

Thank you for helping me create and expand my dreams, Princess

damn fine catch for a $ 5 buck camera .. .. I am a huge fan of what wonderful paintings are found in the skies.

sorry if it seems I take a long time before I reply or comment .. I try to get to all on my watch but between doing my own work and dealing with family and medical issues .. I'm slow .. for that I apologize terry

So peaceful....*sigh* Maybe I should start attempting to get up in the morning to capture a Texas sunrise....doubt it will happen. Very nice shot. Love how it's so dark on the very right....

Baah...Im sorry I didn't comment on this sooner mate, but i'm clearing out my msg centre and this was under the pile!
Well, you showed me this picture ages ago - well before you submitted it to dA..and I must say, I never knew you had it in ya! Being a photographer of this calibre. The colours are all natural, all you hadda do was point, and shoot. but you did it much better than that...you timed the sun almost setting perfectly, and used an angle that tells your story beautifully...not just a front view angle.
YEAH IT KIX ASS DUD3

So sedate, relaxing and calming... I even love the curvature of the horizon... The subtle tones I feel offer the best presentation. As well as the perfect exposure of the foreground, which highlights the light captured by the water

You done well with the tools you had at your diposal... Enough so to put any expensive gear to shame. You captured the most important part... The stillness and serenity that nature can only bring

I am so glad you submit this, it's truly gorgeous.

It's also truly amazing, that you could get it from such minimal equipment and controls. I can't believe the liquidity of the gradients, and especially how well the sun isn't over-exposed in the result. I really like the inherent "striping," around that strip of sky blue.

If there's any loss due to your equipment, it's primarily in detail and loss of exposure in the forefront. But both those qualities are simply irrelevant to the image result here - they're not detriments.

Excellent framing, on your part. The sun left balanced against all the diagonals converging right is very nice, very appropriate. It creates both a logical destination of "the morning to come" implied by all the rightward converging diagonals, but also a sense (off panel) of ending and termination, which keeps it from being too "mono-themed," visually. That is, if you'd shot the sun to the right, and all the diagonals opening toward it instead, it might have been a very strong shot but not as complex in its sensation.

Your title is just right, because it acknowledges the feeling of silence prevalent in the shot but reinforces the sense of something happening, which, to my mind, is almost critical to most inspiring shots.

Great job - I liked it on first sight, and I'm really glad you submit it here so I could enjoy it even more. Keep shooting.

It's lovely, Benness. Do you live close enough to that place that you can just go?

I love where the sun is positioned in the photo, and the reflections it causes on the water. The rays it makes are neat too. And I love the silhouetted shtuff on the right. I love the little puddle looking things, too. Hell, I love puddles.

The darkness in the photo is pretty annoying...Suppose there wasn't much you could really do about it, though.

Overall, I like it. Methinks you just need a better cam.

And the title - it just couldn't be even more appropriate.
Its just gorgeous, how the dawn is piercing into and spreading across the canvas that was night.
And do you actually live 'round these parts?

Superb Capture! I must say, I particularly do find myself liking this shooting of photography. While the land is in a haze or pall of darkness, the sun rising gives hope to the world. The lighting is quite breathtaking, love the sun in all its spectacular radiance, the refractive water is also truly quite beautiful, complementing the whole photo itself. While the darkness in the west of the photo is somewhat annoying, it does not detract anything from the image. The atmosphere is truly brilliantly beautiful, good stuff, bravo!
