Description The Leafy sea dragon (Phycodurus eques), a cousin of what we know to be Seahorses. Found generally around the shallow waters off of the western coast of Australia, their body serves as a form of camoflauge from preditors. Feeding primarily on plankton and various other small crustaceans, these marine species are capable of reaching a maximum length of approximately 45cm (18 inches).

I love leafy sea dragons - they're so beautiful. I saw a gorgeous one at melbourne aquarium which was bright yellow. Amazing! such delicate creatures though, and very hard work to keep, even if you're a marine biologist at an aquarium.

this is a gorgeous photo benjamin!

You were in Chicago? Sweet :) Keith has a place there. I've never really visited, just lay-overs. They do have awesome aquariums and zoos and whatnot, or so he says/photographed.

I love these little guys. There are some at Ocean Park in Hong Kong too.

They look like fairies ^_^

I've been in Chicago for like 5 days now it's a my-tee sexy city, for reals. Come hang out! I'll buy you Chai Latte and then call you funny names in my even funnier accent.

They totally do. When I saw it swimming I was like WTF THAT STICK IS SWIMMING WTF?! n' shit. Quite amusing.

I won't be in Chicago for a while, mate Not till late June. Got some stuff going on here on the West Coast.

So where're you crashing in Chicago? How long will you be staying?

WHAT IS GOING ON? So to speak.
