Watercolor, 2016. Almirida, Crete, Greece.Sleepy clouds making their way over the town lights that just woke up. It's evening in the little town of Almirida and the restaurants on the beach have just opened for the night. The day was really windy (for the season) and it almost felt like the waves would crash into the restaurants which are placed right on the beach.
I came home from a trip with to Almirida on Crete with my family and some friends last Thursday and I finished this painting today! I hope you like it!

That's beautiful! The waves really seem to come crashing into the shore with no mercy. And I love the way you painted the clouds. The combination of yellow, grey and rose and the scattered feel you managed to obtain make them very lively.

Wow, thank you so very much for your kind words! They mean a lot to me! To paint the waves was a real adventure with all the reflections and combinations of wet in wet! I'm glad you like the clouds cause I spent a lot of time making them. It was a really beautiful sky that night with the clouds lit up by the full moon. The clouds flew really low and rather fast that night and they were amazing. I really wanted to re-create some that magic feeling. I'm glad you felt it! Have a great day and take care!

Agree, just as long as the wind is warm and there's no rain of fog! Unfortunately, here in Sweden, rain, cold winds and fog usually comes as "a package". But a clear windy day by the sea is great! Take care!

It's like you captured the atmosphere of the place. I can feel the weather...wait...I think I need to get a cardigan.
When I'll look at it for too long I'll start to believe the waves are actually moving

Aw, thanks so much for your kind words!! This was one of those paintings which really was an adventure to paint. It was such a nice night and I really wanted the painting to live up to that. The sea was really tricky to paint with all the reflecting lights and contrast, together with the waves. I had to paint it fast before the paper went dry and I painted like crazy!! I'm pretty pleased with the result and I'm so so glad that you like it!
