I think it might be stronger however, without the pedestal and elements. There is so much detail in the beast, the detail of the "stands" pulls focus from your subject. I think a simpler background would have worked more to your advantage. Just my two cents worth, hope you don't mind the constructive crit. Slap me if you do and I'll shut up.
