Nadie sabe nada del personaje, de momento, sรณlo nos han dado una imagen, por eso he hecho el dibujรญn, porque mucha gente lo odia directamente por sus pintas. Y eso no puรฉ ser >.<

To be honest, this piece made me warm up to him a bit, haha. I don't lurk on the Bioware Forums much, but I might have to start doing so more often.
Since it seems to be the fashion to state why we have reservations about him, I think my main problem is that his face seriously looks like it could be modeled off a person I know in real life. It's very...disconcerting, to say the least, hahaha. The newer image of him makes me much more inclined to like him, though. I do like that, as a soldier, he actually looks like he could be one.
I'm trying to keep things in perspective, though. If I recall, I wasn't sold on the ME2 characters by their initial trailers, and I ended up getting quite attached to them.

I agree, and we all know Bioware is good at doing that, if nothing else, XP
Haha that happened with me and Jack. She called my paragon femShep a pussy in Purgatory, which made me dislike her, but her loyalty mission definitely pulled me into the Jack camp.

Go Vega supporters! ^^
I think I kinda like him too, a bit, but because he's getting so much hate. I'll wait to judge him until I play the game : )

Vega hate (and Vega love, too) has no logical bases. He's just a pic by now. I really don't understand the love/hate threads about him...
As long as he's a good character I have no problems with his face. And I personally would be OK if he was Jacob-like, given that I love Jacob and the team needs some down-to-Earth people. But Bioware will do a pretty good job with James, I'm sure : )

I feel bad for him, too, because all the hate he's getting. I want to know more about him and the role he'll have in ME3, and his relationship with Shep and the squad : )

He's just a really bland, uninteresting guy. No homo. Nigel Fishnchips would make a better squadmate than him, to be honest.
But, that's just my opinion.

Of course he's uninteresting. We know NOTHING about him. Honestly, I don't understand why is people judging him given that we literally have no information about him.

I can't speak for anyone else, but my issue with Vega is that he's tacked on to explain things to the Mass Effect newcomer with his own noob perspective on things. It's lazy, tacked-on, overly appeasing, and not necessary AT ALL.
He's the Dawn Summers of the Mass Effect universe.

I really don't know why everybody assumes that's the only role Vega will play into the game. I honestly don't believe that's all, he, like any other ME character, will have a good backstory and a good plot to follow across the game.

diraemythos In reply to Naahzda [2011-07-24 22:41:03 +0000 UTC]
I'm more than happy to be proven wrong in time. I just think that explaining the Mass Effect universe to new players through his perspective is pandering. They've made no secret of wanting to maximize profits for ME3-- their statement about pushing the release date back said much the same thing. But a character that has to explain things like the Council, and this or that is insulting to our intelligence.
I have no doubt that Bioware will do their bestest to give Vega a solid backstory and plotline, but I'd MUCH rather they tie up loose ends and concentrate on the characters that already exist in the universe. That's probably the thing that annoys me the most. The Mass Effect games already have a GLUT of characters. You don't need to tack on one more -- and his role could easily be filled by any other pre-existing character-- one that people actually care about and want to see more of. Anderson could easily do that, and there's so much backstory of his that was just hinted at before. Using a pre-existing character enriches the story, rather than just tacking on well, more. More nothing.
I just hate sequels that tack on shit, with the "more is more" mentality. It's a way to hedge their bets.

Oh, and wow xDDDDD I bet some of my Sheps could do that too xDDD

I don't love him because there's still nothing to love about him (his looks, maybe, but I tend to like more a character's looks when I get to know his/her personality), but I don't get the hate. I wish he'll be a great friend : D
