A sneaker slammed down in the center of the village, followed by a second that crashed into the stone wall at the edge of it. The faint fruity smell of some lotion or perfume, almost drowned out by the overwhelming stench of months of collected sweat, spilled out over the village.
"A village of insects. How quaint. I can't exactly leave this infestation here though, you're too close to my house and I don't want you trying to raid the pantry. Since I'm a benevolent goddess, I'll give you a choice. Get in my shoes and become my slaves, assuming you make the trip back, or..." Her foot crushed a house instantly, spraying tiny masonry across the ground. "die under my feet like the insects you are."
She noticed a survivor crawling away between the rubble and shifted her foot, pinning him effortlessly beneath her big toe. "Now where do you think you're going?" She kneeled down, not moving the foot pinning a small man, and grabbed another in her hand. "You're too disobedient to be my slave but, I suppose I could use a snack for the road." The man pinned beneath her toe finally gave into the pressure and popped. "One down." She stood up and began prodding a few tinies towards her sneakers with her bloodied toes. "Come on now I don't have all day." When they were all inside she tipped the shoes up and began to slip them on, then stopped. "I almost forgot." The remaining houses were crushed one by one under toes painted with teal and blood and anyone cowering inside with them. "There. That should have finished off any cowards who thought they could hide from a goddess" She slipped her shoes back on, this time for good. The tinies inside were smothered or crushed and the minutes-long walk home felt like years under the pressure. She wiggled her toes, enjoying the feeling of tinies struggling beneath them and popped the last tiny in her hand into her mouth.
