Download for full view!These different eye styles i was practicing; trying different angles etc so if they are messy im sorry, they came straight from my sketchbook (well most) xD
The first chart is just to show a variety of styles, and what elements repeat and what can be left out etc, and how those styles differ. It's also to demonstrate the eye shape similarity to an almond, which can work from any angle.
There are many other styles that could be included (like western comic style), but i decided to do the ones i knew best.
Some of they styles look similar in two angles, especially the simpler eyes.
You can make your own chart of the styles you like/use, its good practice!
im pretty pleased with the accuracy of the different eyes to the photo, especially the surprised eye. (as i drew them all except the realistic style before i took the photos)
anyway this is more of a diagram thing than a tutorial i guess

This is a wonderful tutorial and im def gonna come back to it for ref but i thought i would mention that tears are not produced in that inner corner of the eye. that's only where the drain to (the lacrimal duct is there). the lacrimal gland, which produces tears, is found above the eye and towards the outer edge, under the eyelid/eyebrow region.

thanks. i guess what i meant by "tears come from here" is "tears come out of here", ie: where you SEE them come from, as generally the bottom margin is where they pool and spill out of. not where they are produced from. (since that's all you really need to know to draw a teary eye)

It's nice that you showed several different styles, rather than just one style. It'll help a lot more people that way.

Do you think you could do one on feet? I see you've done some skectches of hands in the past. Feet and hands are always the hardest to draw. If one finger is too short, or the thumb is too far away from the other fingers, the entire thing looks like an awful mess.

i might do some for feet or hands one day when i get better at them but for now i feel like theres many tutorials on Da for them that would help better than i ever could xD

Aaah I can understand the feeling, it's sometimes sad to see an old style you really like go, but I guess in the end with influences and time it always comes back to being what you want it to be
