I adore this shot... I've been looking at feather closeups for half an hour, and I think this is my fave so far.
I'm making a feather themed template for my site and was wondering if I could use this image and give you credit. I haven't decided exactly what I'm doing yet, and I'm asking permission from various people so I may or may not use it, but I'd rather ask now just to be sure.

So soft, warm and comforting. A delicate feather that may have gone unnoticed while floating in the air. The same feather that comforts us in blankets and pillows. Makes me feel that at 1:57am, I should be in bed enjoying my own feathers.

Very nicely done. I love the shadows and the softness of the feather. Such detail, how marvelous. And that transparent/translucent border adds a great touch to the piece. Wonderful!

Each frame is different...
Most frames are about 5-10 layers in photoshop, and consist of colours and blending layers. It all depends on the image.
Pratice makes perfect, keep working on it.

okay. But see my problem is I have absolutly no idea where to begin. I have never used layers before... and photoshop is rather new to me. So I would need some tutorials... know where to find any good ones? I would love to be able to attempt things like this... but I am kinda handicap in that area... LOL

Erm.
I wish I could help you out. I started with Photoshop back in version 2.0, when online tutorials weren't really popular or available. hehe
Check the DA forums... there might be tips/tricks/tutorials there.

Sweet shot. Candles produce such nice light, especially when captured in monotones. The power went out for you during the storm?
Nice to see i'm not the only night owl photographer in HFX

Nope... not out during the storm, just randomly a few days ago. Clear night, but we lost power for about 3hrs.

Strange. I'm up in the north end and we never had a problem. must have been line maintenance or something.
Still, Great pic.
