Nice composition. Such a natural and unaffected beauty.
You capture good details, nice shot in "sephia style".
Lovely how you have sculpted her body with use of high point of light and dark point of shadows that make in evidence the strain of muscles in the torso, especially the stomach and ribs.
Brilliant figure study...the sexy bust of the model creates a diagonal and her body respects the law of third parties.
The pose and the way you use the light was excellent, elegant and seductive composition.
Nice background with wall nstead of the studio sheet.
Superb shot! Excellent concept executed to perfection.

Thank you for the nice critique, and I'm sorry I wasn't on here to read it sooner. DA says it's "expired" now, so it won't show up under the photo. I'm not sure why DA has an expiration on critiques, it seems silly.

I think this is an absolutely wonderful shot. The deep rich shadowing tones on the model are perfectly balanced to highlight her physique while the lighter body areas blend very well. For some reason this image makes me think she's in a motion of some sort and I like that...swimming, dancing, who knows... I just wish that the backdrop was a shade or two lighter to add a little more overall contrast, I think it would have helped to showcase the model more effectively and create a little more impact. In general though, like I said, truly a beautiful shot.

This photograph incorporates beauty and power. The lighting is excellent and brings in the textures of the wall behind the model then highlights the body creating contrast and interest. As for composition there are strong points of contrast creating eye movement throughout the picture. Then we can clearly see the body and the power it conveys, then the hand is has excellent contrast and conveys a delicateness and strength at the same time. The body position creates curves and flow through the composition. The subtle colors add a warmth to this creation that enhances the beauty of this art work.

Firstly major compliments on the model's physique and posing prowess. Her stance demur and pivot points are perfect. I feel she expresses emotion through her pose if not directly from her face. But this is not an issue, the image works. My only criticism is the selection of textured background. My eyes are guided to her hand but then the stucco texture about it draws my eyes away. This is me being very picky, but thought i would mention it.

I love the tonality of the image, the limited hue palate and the soft complimentary lighting. Great idea and great execution

To be perfectly honest, I usually am not a fan of the majority of what is labelled as artistic nude. The female form is the subject of much of my photography, but much of the nude work i see gives me the impression of substituting nudity for actual art and composition. This image strikes me as an exception. The symmetry of the form, and definition of the body is beautiful. And the emotional feel from the subject is pure and artistic. Im quite fond of it. Technically, i find myself wishing that you had been a few more feet away from the background, and an aperture setting around 2.5 had been used to have just your body be in focus, and everything else, falling away out of focus. Other than that, at least for me, the image is really beautiful.

My first impression of the piece was that the form chosen shows an excellent amount of kinetic energy reminiscent of a piece by Caravaggio while showing the human form in fantastic detail like a Michelangelo. The vision that comes to mind on a second look, while adding the earlier impressions is of a Dryad in the Greek Myths; seducing lonely travelers and ignorant gods. I feel that, this to, has some story being told. Whatever the case, the outcome is one of pure emotion. The emotion is hard for me to place, though I have a feeling it is more satisfaction then anything else. For the self or for another becomes the question, more so as the viewer can see what looks like a small smirk from the model in question.

Dangerous, seductive, impressive. Well done in all forms.

This is why I joined and remain in Deviant Art, the opportunity to be humbled by stunning work like this. There is a ballet like movement and structure which is wonderful to behold. Your stance, body movement and especially the deeply contemplative look on your face are almost zen like. The movement could also be Tai Chi or contemporary dance move. Your use of your arms in openness yet also protection add a story and the movement of your hand and fingers on your outstretched arm is the soft enticement of piano keys in symphony. Comment on your body weight or sexual seductiveness is to completely miss the point of this brave picture. Your shape, form and muscular definition is a study in the beautiful machine that is the human body. It is all wonderfully softened by the sensual femininity of your hair and use of background and light accentuates the whole and draws us naturally along the picture. In my humble opinion this picture is iconic, disregard the ignorant , or narrowly directed comments, All great art has suffered in the hands and minds of the ignorant or narrow minded. This is art, beautiful, contemplative and modern. I am privileged to view it and there is joy in my heart in knowing art is moving, growing and changing. Be very, very proud of this piece.

Being super nit-picky here.

I wish your hair wasn't covering the other (left) breast and I wish we could see your neck/face better. To me, the right arm kills the flow just a little bit and you seem to have a wonderful profile. Again, just a super nit picky comment on an other wise strong image.

Everyone else has commented on how strong the visual are and I concur. Great use of shadows and a great mix of strong and soft imagery, make it a really powerful piece. I also love the sharpness on your hand.

Keep up the great work!

I had to think twice about saving this photo - but I did, of course.
The photography is excellent. I like the way the model's skin colour merges with the background, and there also seems to be a texture added as an overlay. If not, then the processing of the photo was carried out extremely well. The model is well captured in this pose - if the photo had been taken from a different angle it wouldn't have been so captivating. The photography, and photographic ability of the photographer, really captures the ability of the body to stretch, curve, angle itself and turn itself into an elegant shape.

The pose of the model is awesome. It highlights her extremely thin body, her beautiful and shapely breasts, and her incredible shape. No she is not anorexic - you can tell from her legs and her buttocks that it is the natural shape of her body which gives her upper torso a thin appearance and her lower torso a slightly heavier appearance. The overall pose shows her flexibility and her artistic ability to show the human form in all its glory.

In terms of nudity, this is the most artistic display of nudity that I have ever personally seen on DeviantArt. It is outstanding in that the photography, photographic elements, and pose, all send out a message (to me at least) of the beauty of the human form.

Excellent piece of work - congratulations to both the model and the photographer.

Now, I have to say that I'm not a big fan of female figures where you get a clear shot of their bone structure-- through their skin. This isn't supposed to be an insult towards the model, but most men don't prefer this sort of view.

Regardless of the model's inconveniences, I'd say that this is a rather creative shot. Well captured. The lighting and the tones seem to be utmost perfect.

But as for what comes to the entirety of this photograph, I wouldn't say it had the best of impacts on me-- and for this, we can blame the awful bony skin of the model. Again, not intended to be an insult, but it's usually the smallest things that turn an otherwise great piece of art, into the not-so-great piece of art.

melannc In reply to ehecod [2012-10-23 02:57:20 +0000 UTC]

Judging by the rest of your critique, you're a bright fellow with a decent vocabulary. It's too bad you couldn't have chosen better adjectives than "awful bony skin" when describing the model (me), especially since you mentioned you were trying *not* to be insulting.

I'm not offended by anything you've said, I'm very confident in my body. I'm publishing this critique so it can serve as a great example of very poor wording that could potentially be offensive and hurtful to many models.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ehecod In reply to melannc [2012-10-23 08:49:14 +0000 UTC]

Looks like someone can't take critique... Calm down and learn to understand that you will come down with more than one case of harsh wording and downhill rides in your life.

If you want to at least appear respectable, act so. As a model, you need to develop a thicker skin (also literally in this case) since your content can be more or less personal to you, since you're displaying -yourself-.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

melannc In reply to ehecod [2012-10-24 02:57:30 +0000 UTC]

I said I *wasn't* offended, so your point that I need to develop a thicker skin is moot. In order to "calm down" I would first need to be riled up, which is not the case, and I'm not sure where you're getting that. I disagree with your critique, that does not mean I'm upset by it. You seem to be the one upset by the fact that I've made an example of you.

Your choice of wording was poor, my point stands.
I was very respectful to you, and will continue to be so.

Well, for starters, the model's body is so dramatic and active. Since I'm no photographer, this is the kind of picture that I would love to use as a reference.

1. I love the curve of her spine. Plus, her arms and face shows characteristic.

2. As an ametur artist, I need this to study figures and anatomy.

3. As I look at this photo, I can name at least a couple of actions she's doing: dancing, making magic, sign language, exercises and maybe singing.

Even though she's kind of dramatic, she shows muscle and beauty. Keep it up, buddy!

First of all I apologise if I cannot offer much insight into specific technique here, photography is not my main area of expertise; in fact I haven't offered any on photographs to date, which should give an indication as to how much this image caught my eye. In any case, despite my lack of knowledge I feel compelled to offer as good a critique as I can muster.

Straight away the image caught my eye. The subject is beautiful and yet harsh, hard, giving the eye many reasons to look back again and again to find a new aspect to study. Of course the pose is elegant, yet the hard ridges of bones and muscle offer a wonderful contrast to the grace that is visually arresting, in many ways all at once.

Finally, the colours and pose offer up images of countless Renaissance masterpieces, bringing us almost into the workshops of Da Vinci and Michaelangelo and allowing us to step back into a time where art was truly called classical.

Truly, well done to both you and the photography for creating something that catches the eye of a random passer-by - and enchanting them!

What i should say about this picture? words cant describe my feelings...
i will start from the pose. Its exposes the body perfectly, the hands gives the impression of dancing, a light dance, the angle of the body gives another impression, this time, levitation!

As comes into lightning couldn't be more perfect, it gives your skin the shadows to provide the finishing touch that makes whole picture mesmerizing.

The framing, both or your hands are on the same height, and your angle of the body as i mentioned above, are on the correct positioning.

Last, the background i think it was a great choice,it blends with the human skin naturally!!
