At Avadir's arrival at the military camp in the North, life both gets more complex as well as easier on Caleb and Alwen both.

By the time this happens, Caleb has already grown more at ease with himself and his role as mage in the community, effectively establishing himself as voice of reason and local authority figure within the neighboring villages. Alwen, on the other hand, got demoted from his position as military leader - and while this means he now is a direct subordinate to Va, he also is under far less pressure and stress. Or rather: he gets to be more Alwen and less Captain.
Now that Caleb learnt he can actually speak his mind and Alwen is learning how to be less overbearing, they are able to meet one another in the middle, at long last.

If the rainbow-y background isn't obvious, this is a final Pride piece, ft. Al and Caleb having a bit of fun before Adventure beckons them again. ^^

This was meant to be a quick doodle, but I really screwed up the sky, so I had to fix it digitally, which ended up taking far longer than expected. I now know why DecoTime markers are a cheap brand: the color numbers don't matter - although markers bearing the same color number are supposed to be the same color, they are not. Fun times. :') Long live SketchBookPro, which saved this drawing from being discarded altogether.
